… as Amosun vows to work tirelessly till 12:00 midnight of handing over day

The Ogun State government has said it is set to celebrate musical icons and actors who have written their names in gold on the sand of time.
The icons who include; late Fela Anikulapo, Albert Ogunde among a number of other indigent sons and daughters of the state .
The governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun disclosed this during a world press briefing organised to usher-in the 2019 African Drum Festival theme: “DRUMING FOR THE FUTURE”.
The governor stressed that the organization of the 2019 edition of the annual festival is a fulfilment of his promises before his tenure expires on May 29.
Amosun also vowed that, he will continue working for the development of Ogun State, till the midnight of May 28 before his tenure expires on 29.
He said, “They thought the result of the governorship election will draw me back from working; they believe I will not fulfil all my promises but I will shock them. I am going to work till the midnight of May 28 before my tenure expires on May 29
”I want to assure everybody that this year’s Festival will be bigger and better. We are partnering with 26 States across the federation and some countries outside Nigeria will also attend the festival.
”When we started this festival in 2016, they thought we will not be able to continue, but I thank God this is the fourth edition, no administration has been able to achieve this”
The governor also noted that the significance of Drums in people’s lives cannot be overemphasized as it is relevant in religion and tradition.
He added that there will be exhibition of Arts, artifacts, culture and showcasing of our skills, products and services.
He stated, “There is no one who can deny that drums have not brought orderliness into his or her lives.
“During the Festival, the Adire logo will be unveiled and the Ransome Kuti heritage museum will be declared open.
“The Festival will also be an avenue to celebrate 10 major Cultural Icons from Ogun State which includes Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Chief Ebenezer Obey, late Herbert Ogun Ogunde among others.”
