Men of the Ogun State Police Command on Sunday arrested a 31-year-old fake soldier, Jolly Gilbert.
The command stated this in a Press release signed by the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi.
Oyeyemi said the fake soldier was arrested during the raiding of criminal hideout and black spots at Eyin Ogbe in ogijo area of Shagamu Local government.
He added that Gilbert who was arrested alongside two others at the hideout was at the point of arrest wearing military camouflage.
“On interrogation, the suspect claimed to be a soldier serving with 174 Battalion of the Nigerian army. A signal was sent to the Battalion to authenticate his claim and it was revealed that the suspect is a fake soldier.
“Recovered from him are; a solder identity card, a Jackknife, military hardware, and assorted charms”.
Meanwhile, the commissioner of police in the State, CP Bashir Makama ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) for discreet investigation and prosecution.
