An Ogun State Magistrate Court sitting in Isabo Abeokuta has ordered the remand of a 60- year old man, Peter Odejimi for allegedly having carnal knowledge of some teenagers.
The defendant is facing a five-count charge bordering on unlawfully canal knowledge.
The Prosecuting Counsel O.S Onadeja told the court that the defendant committed the offence between March and April 2019 at No 2 Itesi street Isale Ake area of Abeokuta.
Onadeja alleged that the defendant unlawfully had carnal knowledge of five teenage girls without their consent.
He said the defendant unlawfully had carnal knowledge of one Sukurat Aremu 7-yrs, Samiat Aremu10-yrs, Makinde Yemisi 13yrs, Kolawole Seun 15yrs.
He added that the defendant also had unlawful carnal knowledge of his relative Motunrayo Adeleye 19yrs who was staying with him.
He stated that the defendant was arrested after the husband of a neighbour’s wife whom Odejimi had been making love advances to set a camera in the defendant’s house.
“A neighbour who has been suspecting the defendant after he had allegedly made love advance to his wife warned the parents of some of the girls who usually go in to play with the defendant and later set a camera in his house.
“The matter was reported at the station and the defendant was handed over to the police.” he said
Onadeja urged the court to grant the application to remand the defendant in prison custody pending legal advise from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) in other to ensure the cause of justice.
According to him, the offence committed is contrary to section 32 of the Child rights Laws, section 357 and punishable under section 358 of the criminal code laws of Ogun State 2006.
The plea of the defendant was not taken by the court.
The Magistrate, Mrs Basirat Adebowale granted the application and ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody pending legal advise from the Director of Public Prosecution(DPP).
The case was adjourned till June 21st for report of DPP’s advise.
