Gbagura gets new Oba , as Ogun govt presents appointment letter

The Ogun state government has presented an appointment letter to the new Agura of Gbagura, Saburee Bakre, in Abeokuta North Local government area of the state.

The ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs presented the letter to the Oba-elect at the office of the Chairman, Abeokuta North local government area of the state.

It would be recalled that, the demise of the monarch was announced on 13th, July, 2018 after a protracted illness

The deceased Oba Halidu Laloko, Sobekun II became a traditional ruler in 1980.

The appointment empowers the Oba-elect to be a permanent member of Ogun state council of Obas and a member of Egba traditional council.

The letter which was signed by the Director,Chieftaincy affairs ,Adesoji Adewunmi on behave of the permanent secretary of the ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs read thus:

“I have the greatest pleasure to inform kabiyesi tgat section 23(1) of the chiefs law of Ogun state of Nigeria, 2006, the executive council of Ogun state has approved your appointment as the new agura of gbagura in Abeokuta north local government area with effect from Monday 6th of may 2019.

“I am to convey to kabiyesi, on behalf of the state government, hearty congratulations on this appointment and wish kabiyesi good health, long life and many years of peaceful and prosperous reign.

“By this appointment, you have become a permanent member of Ogun state council of Obas and a member of Egba traditional council.

“A legal notice of this appointment will be published in the Ogun state government gazette in due course.”
