Moshood Abiola Polytechnic chapter of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, will on Monday organise praise and worship session to celebrate the reinstatement of the Polytechnic by the state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
The immediate past Governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun had moved through legislation to turn the institution into Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology, the decision which resulted into a logjam for more almost two years.
The development led to the crippled academic and social activities on campus as the face-off between the staff and government lasted.
But the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun had ordered that status quo ante be restored while a committee was set up to look at issues surrounding the establishment of the University, amongst others.
ASUP however, said it received with gratitude the pronouncement to reinstate the Polytechnic to its original status with full academic activities restored.
The union in a press release jointly signed by its Chairman, Babatunde Osifalujo and Secretary, Tomisi Adegunle said, “the union, ASUP, MAPOLY having received with gratitude, the pronouncement of the reinstatement of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic to its status quo ante by His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Executive Governor of Ogun State and acknowledging the manifestations of the return of academic and social life on the campus hereby announce its decision to hold a praise and worship session on Monday, June 24, 2019 at the union secretariat”.
