I was sitting inside one of the 5-star hotels in Abuja catching fun with three of my friends who just arrived the country from the United States on Thursday, 27th 2019, around 9:30 pm.
And surprisingly, I became suspicious when I saw Former Governor Ibikunle Amosun strolling into the VVIP arena without either escort or aide while my friends and I were sitting at the poolside.
But, I became more curious as a journalist when I saw the incumbent Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun also going into the same room where Amosun entered barely 30 minutes before Abiodun’s arrival.
I became very uneasy, wanting to know what the topic of the discussion was, bearing in mind the existing rancor between the duo, but my friends were ignorant of my feelings and sudden quietness.
I then took a bold step, took excuse from my friend, collected the VVIP pass from one of them and made my way into the VVIP section.
On getting into the VVIP, one of the hostesses in that bar approached me and said “any order?”
But I replied, “On duty,” just for her to let me be and she left immediately.
Hence, I sat in a three-seater while the Governor and his estranged enemy sat on the other wing in the same room and with my vantage position, I could hear them clearly.
Amosun: “What is the reason for this meeting?”
Abiodun: “Are you asking me? we were asked to meet and make peace that’s all…”
Amosun: “What peace again? At least you believe you have it all, both the party and the Vice President, but, time will tell.”
Abiodun: “I have been your friend for 18 years but you were never my friend for a day, very unfair.”
Amosun: “Imagine! I secured the Senate ticket for you in 2015 but you and I knew you lost the election because you weren’t accepted by the people, how then do you think my calculations will favour you and make me cede a Senate ticket to you again with the complexity of that 2019 election?”
Abiodun: “How did I then win the Governorship election?”
Amosun: “You and I knew what happened quite well but that hasn’t made you cease from being my friend even with your ungodly acts during the election. But believe me, your camp will soon tear apart as there are too many interests therein and you know it. ”
Abiodun: “lolzzz. Look at you, the God that secured this victory for me will stand by me in this Government.”
Amosun: “With Baba Osoba, Daniel and Kashamu??? Lolzzz… You will soon know the difference between 6 and half a dozen. There are many people around who you don’t know much as I do including Baba Osoba.
“Lest I forget, I know you too well and I know you do not have a hand in the Premium Times’ report but why didn’t you enlighten them when they were planning it?”
Abiodun: “Mouth sealed, Don’t ask me questions… See him as if you weren’t in my shoes while Daniel was in your shoes between 2011 to 2019. Although I can’t be as cruel as you are by locking up his hotel for 8 years… Haaaa! Kunle… Ask God for forgiveness.” (Shakes head).
Amosun: “Soon you will understand what governance entails. You will know that government and decisions are beyond you even as a governor.”
Abiodun: “Just let us look for a way to meet with Asiwaju so as to appeal to him for your conduct before the elections especially during the Presidential campaign in Ogun State.”
Amosun: “Like you know Asiwaju than I do?”
Abiodun: “See this one, Oya go to Asiwaju’s house now and let see if you will be allowed in.”
Amosun: “I know our leader better than you do…”
At this point, I couldn’t help it other than to sneeze, this action called their attention to where I was sitting and immediately, I woke up only to find out that it was all dream.
