The Academic Staff Union of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, has again embarked on a work- to -rule action following alleged unpaid entitlements from Ogun State government .
The ASUP stated this at a Press conference held at the Union building within the premises of the institution .
It will be recalled that the Academic staff of the polytechnic had initially embarked on an industrial action which lasted for two mouths in year 2017, over the alleged non listening posture of the state government.
The Zonal Coordinator of the Union In-charge of zone C , Comrade Olawale Omoobaorun while speaking with newsmen stressed that the Union agreed to embark on the strike action after its congress to protest the alleged the government politicization of the institution and alleged infraction in the appointment of Rectors among other claims .
Omoobaorun also claimed that the government was owing members of the union an accumulated part-time allowances the sum of N76 million and 67% of ten months salaries of its members.
The zonal coordinator who complained bitterly of the state of the polytechnic and also added that the government is as well owing the staffers 100 percent of salaries from the month of June to September.
His words," it is time we acquaint the general public and stakeholders of the resolution of our union and to as well make public the state of the 38-year old foremost model Polytechnic.
"You will recall that based on the non listen posture of the Ogun state government over the state government restructuring policy which does not have human face but simply packed with a one- man business orientation and dictatorial feature.
" As we speak, the government is yet to pay us a dime in the last four mouths and it is also owing us 67% of 10 months salaries and as well as N76 million Part- time allowance among others
" We have also noticed the following; that the Polytechnic has been politicized, infraction in the appointment of Rector, Seizure of Union and Corporative deduction, non payment of accrued allowances among others.
"In view of the above, ASUP, rising from this emergency chapter congress and going by the approval of the National Executive Council of our Union through the zonal executive council, the chapter hereby resolved to resume the work –to- rule resolution of the union and this action shall be sustained until our demands are met."
