There  was a mild drama  at  Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta  as most students refused to resume classes for the  revision ahead of the much awaited second semester examination.

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that members of the Academic Staff Union of the  Polytechnic, having, suspended their three-month-old strike,  resolved to resume a week-long revision to refresh  the memory of the students who had been away from  the school since September 2017 .

The Chairman, ASUP MAPOLY Comrade Kola Abiola while announcing the suspension of the strike last week, said the lecturers have agreed to go back to class for the sake of the students who , many have described as collateral damage during the crisis between the ASUP and the state Government . .

Abiola had also said ,the management would decide when the examination  would commence.

And expectedly, the management announced January 15, as the date for the commencement of the  exam .

Surprisingly , despite the wide publicity of the suspension of the industrial action ,the students refused to resume  two days after as they stayed away from the campus.

When PLATFORM TIMES visited the Campus on Tuesday  morning, very few students were seen  while some lecturers were also seen  around the lecture rooms.

Few others were seen taking some classes with very scanty students .

Findings show that many of the students did not believe the strike has been truly called off as they hinted that it was a temporary suspension that would not last more than a week.

The  few ones  who were on the campus spoke with PLATFORM TIMES said they had anticipated the suspension ,thus, they had to resume for revision ahead of the January 15, examination .

It was observed that majority of  the students that have resumed so far were the  final year students ,some of them said they wanted to go with their colleagues in March for National Youth Service Corps.
