Police arraign two men for assaulting TRACE officer in Abeokuta

Two men have been arraigned before a magistrate court in Isabo for allegedly assaulting and beating an officer of the Traffic Road Compliance and Enforcement Agency Mr. Abayomi Coker  while on duty in Abeokuta.

The accused persons, Oyaremi Semiu,32 and Ogunsanwo Mudasiru,32 with no fixed addresses are standing trial on a-three-count-charge of felony, assault and breach of peace which contravene sections 249(9) and 356(2)of the criminal code, laws of Ogun State 2006.

The duo were said to have assaulted and harassed the traffic officer, by pushing and beating him at his duty post around 5:45pm along NNPC junction in Abeokuta on the 18th of November, 2017.

Reason for the assault is yet unknown as at press time.The duo pleaded not guilty to the charge.

However, the Magistrate, Mrs. Adeola Adelaja granted the accused persons bail in a sum of N500,000 with two reliable sureties each in like sum.

The case was adjourned till December 20, 2017 for hearing.
