The new Customs Area Controller of Ogun II Command, Comptroller Olushola Olukemi Akingbade, has met with excise traders and stakeholders in the Free Trade Zones, calling for deeper cooperation to boost revenue generation and ensure seamless trade facilitation.
The meetings, marked her maiden official engagement with operators within the command, including representatives of the Nigerian Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA).
Addressing the stakeholders, Comptroller Akingbade commended them for the cooperation extended to her predecessor and urged them to sustain the partnership under her leadership. She assured that her administration would operate an open-door policy.
“My leadership will continue to provide a platform for dialogue. Our doors remain open for you to share your challenges, and we will work together to proffer solutions that promote both trade facilitation and revenue growth,” Akingbade stated.
The Controller emphasized the command’s commitment to strengthening synergy with operators in excise and free trade zones, stressing that such collaboration was key to meeting the Federal Government’s fiscal targets.
In their responses, the stakeholders welcomed her appointment, describing her leadership style as one that embodies “motherly care” and fairness.
They pledged full cooperation and support to the new Controller, promising to work closely with the command to meet set goals.
The stakeholders also expressed optimism that her tenure would further consolidate the gains recorded under the previous administration, especially in trade facilitation and stakeholder engagement.
The Ogun II Area Command oversees excise factories, bonded terminals, and free trade zones, playing a strategic role in customs operations in the South-West.
