The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has unveiled a nationwide hotline to enable Nigerians report any MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations selling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) above the approved pump price of ₦739 per litre.
The refinery said the move was part of efforts to enforce transparency, protect consumers and ensure that the benefits of its recent price reduction reach Nigerians across the country.
In a statement on Monday, Dangote Refinery announced that the dedicated hotline, 0800 123 5264, is now active nationwide and can be used by motorists to promptly report violations at any of the over 2,000 MRS filling stations.
The development comes on the heels of the refinery’s commencement of nationwide PMS sales at ₦739 per litre, a move it described as a strategic intervention to stabilise fuel prices and ease the financial burden on citizens, particularly during the festive season.
The refinery urged Nigerians to shun stations selling above the approved price and to make use of the hotline to expose erring outlets.
“We encourage Nigerians to avoid purchasing PMS at inflated prices when locally refined fuel is available at ₦739 per litre. Report any MRS station selling above this price by calling our hotline. Together, we can ensure that the benefits of this price reduction reach every consumer,” the statement read.
Dangote Refinery also reassured Nigerians of steady supply, disclosing that it has a guaranteed daily output capacity of 50 million litres to meet national demand.
It warned against any attempt by unscrupulous operators to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply in response to the price reduction, describing such actions as unpatriotic and unacceptable.
“Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply to frustrate recent price reductions is unpatriotic and unacceptable. We urge regulatory authorities to remain vigilant and take firm action against such practices, especially during this critical festive period,” the refinery said.
The company further called on relevant regulatory agencies to intensify monitoring and enforcement to curb sharp practices in the downstream sector.
According to the refinery, large-scale local refining is already yielding positive results by reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imported fuel, conserving foreign exchange, stabilising the naira and strengthening the country’s energy security.
It added that consumers should resist buying fuel at inflated prices when cheaper, high-quality, locally refined PMS is readily available, stressing that collective vigilance would help sustain fair pricing and economic recovery.
