The Ibeto Seaport and Terminals Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Port Harcourt, has generated ₦12.38 billion in revenue within six months, a performance the Customs Area Controller, CAC, Comptroller Usman Yahaya, attributed to the effective deployment of the Unified Customs Management System, UCMS, also known as B’Odogwu.
According to a press release issued on January 27, 2026, and signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs Tangwa Emmanuel, the revenue was collected between July and December 2025, marking the Command’s first six months of full operations.
The release disclosed that a total of ₦12,382,397,531.62 was generated during the period, which the CAC described as a strong and promising start for the newly established Command, driven by deliberate reforms, institutional discipline, and a clear operational focus aligned with national economic objectives.
Comptroller Yahaya said the home-grown digital platform had improved transparency, efficiency, and accountability in cargo clearance and revenue collection, thereby reducing leakages and strengthening compliance.
“With the effective deployment of the B’Odogwu system, we have enhanced transparency and efficiency in our operations.
“As we move into 2026, our priority remains deepening trade facilitation while ensuring strict compliance with the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023 and other extant regulations,” he said.
He credited the achievement to the policy direction of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and commended officers of the Command and compliant port users for their professionalism and cooperation.
He also assured personnel of a conducive working environment that promotes productivity and ethical conduct.
The CAC urged importers, exporters, freight forwarders, and licensed customs agents to operate strictly within the provisions of the Customs Act and other relevant regulations, stressing that revenue generation would continue to go hand in hand with trade facilitation.
Yahaya further noted that the Command remains guided by the Comptroller-General’s tripod policy thrust of collaboration, consolidation, and innovation, which he said has shaped stakeholder engagement and strengthened operational efficiency.
He also expressed appreciation to the Chairman of Ibeto Group of Companies, High Chief Cletus Ibeto, CON, for supporting the Command at its formative stage, and called for sustained collaboration among port stakeholders to improve service delivery and compliance.
Beyond revenue, the CAC said the Command has intensified efforts to combat smuggling and block revenue leakages through strategic partnerships with sister security and regulatory agencies in Port Harcourt, including the Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder, and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC.
Reflecting on the past year, Yahaya described 2025 as a foundation-laying period, adding that 2026 would focus on consolidating gains, strengthening operational processes, and deepening trade facilitation in line with global best practices.
In his New Year message, the CAC reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to surpass its current performance, noting that the revenue recorded was the result of teamwork, persistence, and sustained encouragement from the Comptroller-General, while calling on officers and stakeholders to maintain cooperation as the Command enters the new year with renewed commitment.
