Babcock University celebrates a remarkable achievement as 17 of its graduates secured First Class honours in the November 2023 Nigerian Law School Bar Final Examinations, according to the recently released results by the Council of Legal Education.
These 17 high-performing graduates represent an impressive 5% of the total candidates from all law faculties in Nigeria who participated in the examinations, marking a historic milestone for Babcock University at the law school.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered from a statement issued by Director of Communication and Marketing, Dr Joshua Suleiman that this success surpasses the university’s previous record set in 2021 when 10 graduates achieved First Class in the Nigerian Law School.
The statement further read that in that year, Mayowa Abiru, a Babcock University law graduate, emerged as the overall best student in the Bar Examinations.
It also added that Emmanuella Ekwale, another standout student from Babcock University, has been honoured with the 2023 Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN) Scholar award for her exceptional performance in the examinations conducted by the body.
This continues a trend, as since 2019, excluding 2020, at least one Babcock University graduate has consistently secured the prestigious BOSAN Scholar award.
“This figure is the highest that Babcock University has so far produced at the law school.
“In 2021, Babcock University produced 10 first-class graduates at the Nigerian Law School.
“That year, Babcock University law graduate,Mayowa Abiru emerged overall, the best student in the Bar Examinations.
“Also, one of Babcock University students, Emmanuella Ekwale, has been awarded the 2023 Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN) Scholar for her outstanding performance in the examinations conducted by the body.
“Since 2019 till date, except in 2020, at least one Babcock University graduate has won the BOSAN Scholar award.
Expressing his joy, President/Vice Chancellor Professor Ademola Tayo conveyed heartfelt congratulations to the accomplished students.
He emphasised that their achievements underscore the effectiveness of Babcock University’s teaching and learning approach, showcasing the institution’s commitment to moulding minds and shaping society through impactful and high-quality education.
Professor Tayo also extended his appreciation to the dedicated lecturers at the University’s School of Law and Security Studies, recognizing their unwavering commitment to the students’ training.
