People suspected to be scavengers have allegedly stabbed a man, identified as Nwangwu Onyebuchi Clement, to death in the old Kutunku compensation layout in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT.
A resident of the area, Francis Nnamdi, said the incident happened around 9:26 am when three scavengers invaded the deceased’s house and attempted to remove his windows.
He said the victim, who was inside his house, sighted them and asked them why they were trying to remove his windows’ burglaries.

He said in the process, one of the scavengers pulled out a knife and stabbed him, adding that the victim, who was holding a cutlass, also stabbed the scavenger back.
According to him, both the man and the stabbed scavengers fell on the ground in a pool of their blood, which led to their death on the spot.
Nnamdi said the two other scavengers took to their heels after they discovered that the man and one of their members were lying on the ground in a pool of their blood.
He said some neighbours later discovered the incident and alerted the police, who later went to the scene to evacuate their corpses to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital in Gwagwalada.
Our reporter learnt that the deceased was a trader, who sold fairly used clothes in Gwagwalada, while the deceased wife is a classroom teacher in the area.
When contacted, the spokeswoman of the FCT police command, SP Josephine Adeh, said in a text message that she was not aware of the incident but will find out and revert.
