In a recent investigation conducted by PLATFORM TIMES, it has been revealed that twenty local government areas across Ogun State collectively shared a substantial sum of N8,921,835,442.20 in December 2024.
This allocation, sourced from BudgiT, sheds light on the distribution of funds among the councils during this period.
Among the local governments, Ado-Odo/Ota emerged as the top beneficiary, receiving a significant portion amounting to N755,023,001.48.
Following closely, Ifo secured N746,984,433.76, while Ijebu North obtained N545,100,443.69. Abeokuta South and Obafemi local governments also received substantial allocations, collecting N500,587,070.70 and N497,780,299.95 respectively.
Abeokuta North and Egbado North were not left out, receiving allocations of N470,947,728.43 and N472,307,055.30 respectively.
Ipokia Local Government, known as the main gateway to Ogun State, received N418,836,116.41, whereas Ijebu Ode, Egbado South, and Ijebu East obtained N424,432,673.80, N441,074,597.99, and N412,508,327.83 respectively.
Further breakdowns of the allocations revealed that Odogbolu received N397,256,039.60, Ikene got N388,333,538.79, Sagamu secured N386,590,213.21, and Imeko obtained N378,809,102.29.
Ogun Waterside, Ijebu East West, Remo North, and Ewekoro also received allocations amounting to N363,100,587.75, N346,740,991.59, N335,236,538.35, and N337,397,939.63 respectively.
However, the investigation highlighted Odeda Local Government as the recipient of the lowest allocation during this period, amounting to N302,788,741.65.
The distribution of these funds underscores the financial dynamics and priorities within Ogun State’s local governance structure, impacting various development initiatives and public service delivery across the communities.
