The People’s Democratic Party(PDP), governorship candidate, Jimi Agbaje, has described the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC)Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as a candidate of a godfather who controls Lagos affairs.

Agbaje, who spoke at a debate organised on Television continental in Lagos, insisted that it will be difficult for the APC candidate to operate as an independent-minded governor because of the nature of his emergence as a candidate.

Agbaje however promised to return governance to the people and not any godfather if elected.

Like other governors before him since 2007, Sanwo-Olu argued that he will not depart from the already entrenched path of his predecessors who pander to the pleasure of the godfather.

Agbaje also replied that his position on the issue of proxy leadership and god fatherism is well known by Lagosians adding that Lagos State can only get better when men without god fathers are elected.

He also dismissed speculations that he is a seasonal politician, insisting that he is a busy politician who continues to engage with people and organisations for the good of Lagos and Nigeria in general.

His words: “In the first place, it is not correct to say I go to bed after every election. After 2015, I have been out there doing one thing or the other.

“If you remember, I was on The Platform a few years ago. I have also been mentoring people. So, it is wrong to assume that I always disappear.

“I ran my party’s chairmanship election, that’s engagement. In 2015, we ran a very good race. This year, our chances are brighter. We have a very strong believe that we will win. Our only fear is the level of compliance by the agencies responsible for the conduct of the elections, but we will win.”
