The state secretary of African Democratic Congress, Bashorun Niyi Salako has cleared the air over the former President Olusegun Obasanjo activeness to the party, claiming that the former president has not done anything to the party rather than being an adviser.
Bashorun who spoke after a press briefing organized by the Gboyega Nasir Isiaka Campaign Organisation GNICO maintained that ADC would win the forthcoming governorship election.
He said, “One of the things I must say upfront is that former President Olusegun Obasanjo has made it clear that he’s not a member of ADC, and he’s not participating in active partisan politics.
“To that effect, other than being an adviser to the ADC, there is nothing else he had done, he has given a clear word, that anyone in Ogun state that needs his advice is welcome.
“Other parties also go to him, but I think his personal interest in ADC comes from the quality of our candidate, the quality of our messages and the quality of the platform itself.
“The fact that some of the things that we are talking about are what he identifies with such as youth empowerment, women engagement and involvement, the re-engineering of social economy and the destiny of the people in the state those are messages he connect with and he encourages us to rather than that there’s nothing else that the former president had done specifically for ADC in Ogun state”.
