The former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Alhaji Sharafa Ishola has said that the Allied Peoples Movement governorship candidate, Abdulkabir Akinlade is in the race to address injustice done to the people of the Ogun west senatorial district.

Ishola who is the Director General of the APM governorship campaign committee said this during an interview with our correspondent in his Abeokuta Resident.

Akinlade who contested and won the seat of Yewa south/Ipokia House of Representatives under the platform of the All Progressives Congress left the party for APM to contest for the governorship seat amidst crisis which greeted the primaries of the APC.

He said, “The injustice done to the Ogun west people, since the creation of the state, for the past 42 years the region has not produce a governor, and the candidature of Akinlade will address the injustice”.

He also expressed disappointment in the National Working Committee NWC and the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomole, who failed to maintained a fatherly role among the then factions in the state.

“The NWC and the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomole never dime it fit to call both sides, in any conflict all you expect of a good leader, is to bring the two sides together, listen to them and look for common ground.

“Rather, they went ahead to take a position and support the offshore primary conducted without contacting the other side, although, there are three options for us, we have decided to take our leave and pick up another platform to express our self.

“Our last option is for us to look for another platform to express our self, and after the expression everybody will go back, don’t forget that this is not the first time such thing is happening, some people left then to SDP to express themselves to people and after the election they came back to APC. There is nothing new, the same people that did that, they should not be against this movement”.

He further stressed that the same process which brings in Sanwo-Olu as the APC governorship candidate in Lagos state was rejected in Ogun state all in the name of selfish interest of some cabals, which is also another injustice Akinlade candidature will address.

“He won the primary conducted by the state party organ similar to the one in which Sanwo-Olu emerged as a candidate in Lagos.

“Whereas the same process that brought in Sanwo-Olu in Lagos, was rejected in here, and that is another injustice, you won the primary fair and square, one way or the other some people who did not participate nor win in the comported primary that was conducted somewhere else, hijack everything but it will be addressed.

“You know, our people in Ogun state, justice is what they take with high esteem than anything, and that is the two issue that Akinlade is riding on, looking at him, he’s the youngest, and the job at hand need someone who is vigorous and energetic.

“Akinlade is also the only candidate out of the candidates that come from Ogun west who has had the opportunity to serve at the executive level in the state, he is a current honourable, serving in the house of representatives, aside that, he is a political scientist, I am not aware of any political scientist among them, I believe he will be able to govern Ogun state with justice, equity, and fairness, and he is a God fearing person”.
