Court remands man for alleged raping sister-in-law

A chief magistrate court in Kastina State has ordered that a 35-year-old man, Abubakar Garba, be remanded in prision custody for allegedly raping his sister-in-law.

The accused who reside at Dorayi village in the Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State was arraigned before Magistrate Fadila Dikko on a count charge of rape.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, told the court that, the victim’s husband Lawal Usman reported the incident at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Musawa before he was apprehended and charged to court.

He said, “Usman told the police that he discovered that whenever he travelled, Garba usually lured his wife into his room and had sexual intercourse with her “on different occasions.

“The police consequently charged Garba with rape under Section 183 of the Penal Code” he said.

Meanwhile, It was learnt that about eight months ago, Usman, who is Garba’s elder brother, took ill and was away in Katsina for medical examination and treatment.

The chief magistrate, Fadila Dikko remanded the accused in prison custody and the case was adjourned till April 2, 2019, for the trial.
