A 42-year-old sales manager, Temitope Onifade has been brought before an Ogun State Magistrate Court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta for allegedly stealing his employer’s N1.47 million.
Onifade whose address was not stated is facing trial for unlawful conversion and stealing.
The Prosecutor Insp. Olu Balogun told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 14th at about 1 pm at Kuto area of Abeokuta.
Balogun alleged the defendant stole N1.47million belonging to her employer, Mrs Adesola Adenopo, a year after his employment.
He added that, the defendant unlawfully divert the sum of N1.47millon belonging to her employer, to her own personal use.
The prosecutor noted that, the offence contravenes Section 383(2) and 390(6) of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State 2006.
In his defence, the defendant denied committing to the offence, claiming that she never stole money from her boss.
However, the Magistrate, Olalekan Oke granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Oke said the sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of tax payment to the Ogun State government.
The case was adjourned till 12th March 2019 for the adoption of final written address.
