The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakr III has urged muslims to look out for the new moon to welcome the month of Rajab 1440AH.
The Muslim leader made this known in a statement by the Chairman Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs and Sultanate Council in sokoto, Prof. Sambo Junaidu.
He said “this is to inform the Muslim ummah that Thursday, March 7, equivalent to 29 day of Jumada al-Thani 1440AH shall be the day to look for the new moon of Rajab”
Abubakr, therefore, claimed that Muslims are requested to start looking out for the moon and report its sighting to the nearest district or village head for onward communication to the Sultan.
Rajab is the seventh month in the Islamic calendar that comes two months before the compulsory fasting month of Ramadan.
However, the monarch prayed to Allah to help religious leaders and entire Ummah in discharging their religious duty
