The officials of Independent National Electoral Commission in Ikenne local government area of Ogun state have lamented the malfunctioning of the card readers.
The Presiding Officer of Ward 5 unit 4, in Iperu, Ikem Chioma complained that the card readers have rejected lot of Permanent Voter cards since they started the exercise about two hours ago.
Meanwhile, the electoral umpire has insisted on the use of the machine to satisfy voters before they are allowed to vote.
Ikem also explained that they did not allow people who have issue with the card reader to vote.
She said, “The turn out is impressive, but, card readers are giving us Issue here.
“The card reader is rejecting a lot of PVCs and people with this challenges were not allowed to vote”.
Meanwhile, a visit to Ward 4 unit 6 in Akesan open market showed that a large number of electorate are patiently waiting to exercise their Franchise.
The presiding officer, Agundomu Mercy claimed voting started in the polling station at exactly 8 am.
She also maintained that the process has been peaceful without any challenges.
