Court sentences man to one-month imprisonment for assaulting Security guard

A 48-year old man, Samson Arubo has been sentenced to one month
imprisonment for allegedly assaulting a primary school security guard

The Magistrate Sam Obaleye sentenced the convict after he was found
guilty to the second count of the charge.

Obaleye said the prosecution has proven its case beyond reasonable doubt.

She said the sentence will serve as a deterrent to others.

“I hereby found the defendant guilty of the offence on the second
count charge.” she said

Earlier the Prosecutor, Sgt Adejoke Adebari had told the court that
the defendant committed the offence on March 7 at around 1 pm at
Great golden Nursery and Primary School Ayetoro Road Abeokuta.

Adebari said the defendant had jumped into the school premises through
the fence when he was accosted by David Fashina the school’s security
guard.

“The defendant beat up the guard, poured water on him, hit him up with
a stick on his laps and that he tried to strangle him.

“His friend intervened and he was arrested by the Police.

Prosecutor stated that the offence committed is contrary to and
punishable under section 355 and 412 of the criminal code Vol.1 laws
of Ogun State 2006.
