The police on Thursday arraigned a 20-year-old man, Mohammed Adam, in a Karu Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja for allegedly buying two stolen Samsung Plasma Televisions.
The defendant, who resides at Kurudu, Abuja is facing a charge bordering on receiving stolen property, an offence he denied committing.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Ayotunde Adeyanju, told the court that one Macpeters Ategwu of Gaynoil Hotel, Karu, Abuja, reported a case of two stolen Samsung Plasma televisions at the Karu Police Station on February 6.
Adeyanju said during police investigation, it was discovered that the defendant dishonestly received and purchased the stolen televisions, valued at N150,000 from one Godwin Depung at the rate of N30,000.
He said that the defendant confessed to the crime and that the stolen televisions were recovered from him
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 317 of the Penal Code.
The defendant pleaded not guilty, while the presiding judge, Sani Mohammed, granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000, with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until April 24, for hearing.
