A 42-year-old Sales Manager, Temitope Onifade has been sentenced to two years imprisonment by an Ogun State Magistrate Court sitting in Isabo Abeokuta for stealing her employer’s N1.47 million, a year after employment.
The Magistrate Mr. Olalekan Oke sentenced the defendant after she was found guilty of a two-count charge of unlawful conversion and stealing.
Oke said that the prosecution has proven its case beyond reasonable doubts.
He, however, gave the convict an option of N100,000 fine and ordered her to refund the sum of N350,000 to the complainant.
Earlier, the Prosecutor Insp. Olu Balogun told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 14th at about 1 pm at Kuto area of Abeokuta.
Balogun alleged the defendant stole N1.47million belonging to her employer Mrs. Adesola Adenopo.
He alleged the defendant unlawfully convert the sum of N1.47m to her own personal use.
According to him, the offence contravenes Section 383(2) and 390(6) of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State 2006.
