A 38-year-old security guard, Kazeem Alimi, on Monday appeared before an Ogun State Magistrates Court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta for beating a man suspecting to be having love affairs with his girlfriend to coma.
The defendant who is a guard at Metro Hotel, Ibara Housing, Abeokuta was arraigned on a count charge of assault.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Adejoke Adebari told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 22nd at about 2:10 pm at Lipede Estate Abeokuta.
Adebari said the defendant went to his girlfriend’s house, simply identified as Bose and he met the complainant, Razaq Waheed in her apartment.
He added that Alimi challenged the complainant before an argument broke up between the two parties.
According to the prosecutor, “In the process of the argument, the defendant punched the complaint which led to his right thigh to be broken and was rushed to the hospital”.
The Prosecutor further added that the offence committed is contrary to and punishable under sections 355 of the Criminal Code Vol.1 Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs Sam Obaleye granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum.
Obaleye said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and show evidence of tax payment to the Ogun State Government.
The case was adjourned till May 3rd for trial.
