A 40-year old man, Akeem Akanni has been sentenced to three months imprisonment by an Ogun State Magistrate Court sitting in Isabo Abeokuta for stealing phones and cash valued N83,000.
The Magistrate Olakulehin Oke sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
Earlier, the Prosecutor Insp. Olu-Balogun Lawrence told the court that the defendant, Akanni with others at large committed the offence on April 23, 2019, around 7:45 pm at Lafenwa area of Abeokuta.
Lawrence said the defendant stole infinix Hot6 handset valued N60,000, one Techno handset valued N3,000 and sum of N20,000 total valued N83,000 belonging to one Salau Kamilu.
He also stated that the defendant assaulted the complainant, Kamilu with a stick and fist blow.
Lawrence said that the offence committed is contrary to sections 351, 383, 516 and punishable under section 390(9) of the criminal code Vol 1 laws of Ogun State 2006.
Oke was however handed a N40,000 option of fine.
