The Peoples Democratic Party and its senatorial candidate for Ogun east senatorial district during February 23, 2019 National Assembly election, Engineer Deola Sosanwo has denied allegations of collecting money from APC and its Candidate Sen.Lekan Mustapha not to challenge the outcome of the election in court and the Election Petition Tribunal.
Sosanwo stated this in a statement on Thursday.
According to him, he remain resolute to reclaiming his stolen Mandate and refused to be bribed or silenced in the face of brutality and evil machinations.
“He explained that many of his supporters have been brainwashed to believed he had collected a huge sum of money from his political opponent and his party to discontinued the legal steps taken to address the injustice.
“He added that, he has enough ground to challenge the decision of the returning officer for the senatorial district Prof.Chris Nwuka who publicly declared the election inconclusive only to return two days after to announced the APC Candidate, Sen.Lekan Mustapha winner of the election with 84,924 votes while he got 82,457 votes.
“He noted that while elections result is declared inconclusive, the best option is to order for a rerun or supplementary election to complete the aborted electioneering exercise, but this was not the case because’the returning officer was abducted and gaged to incoherently and inaudibly declared Sen Lekan Mustapha winner’.
“He, however, told his supporters to remain calm as the matter is before the Election petition tribunal sitting in Abeokuta saying the cynical moves of his opponent who in his brutal characteristics illegally hijacked peoples mandate given to him through hook and cook means.
Sosanwo said, “putting the record straight, his unconditional love for the good people of the Senatorial district and by extension the good people of Ogun state is the tenable reason he remain resolute to reclaim his stolen mandate adding that his personality’s abhorrence for hypocrisy is the reason his love has been laden with the truth”.
He described INEC declaration of Mustapha as the winner as a shame, charade, and mockery of the evolving homegrown democracy that is in dire need of sincere and patriotic deepening.
