Four persons have been confirmed dead in a road accident involving a Toyota corolla car and a low bed Mack trailer around Obada Oko area on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Sunday.
This was confirmed by the state spokesperson of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi.
Akinbiyi stated that the accident occurred around 7:36pm on Sunday and was caused by reckless driving by the trailer and excessive speeding by the car.
Akinbiyi added that eight persons were involved in the accident which include; seven adults and one female child, adding that four persons died on the spot while two others sustained severe injuries.
His words, “Learnt the low bird trailer with no registration number was trying to make a u-turn inbound Abeokuta around Obada Oko without trafficating before the Toyota Corolla marked EM 866 APP which was on top speed from Lagos rammed into it.
“The 2 person in the trailer, the driver and the motor boy, ran away before our rescue team arrived.
“However, six passengers were in the Toyota Corolla when the accident happened, four died on the spot including the driver and a child, while the remaining 2 were injured ,” he said.
The spokesperson stressed that both the corpses of the dead and the injured persons have been taken to General Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta while the accidented vehicles had as well been taken to the Divisional Police Office, Adigbe in Abeokuta.
