The Chief Imam of Ansarudeen Yewa/Ilaro division, Alhaji Adegbite Badmus has warned Muslims to desist from marrying above one wife.
The Cleric made this warning in Abeokuta while speaking at the 1st Ramadan Lecture organized by the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) National Secretariat on Monday.
Alhaji Badmus who spoke on the topic “Responsibilities of parents on children and responsibilities of children to parents”, explained that the level of divorce is increasing among Muslims as a result of marriage to more than one wives.
He added that, Muslims of today found enjoyment in giving birth to children they cannot cater for.
The Cleric also noted that, the primary assignment of every parent is to take good care of their children even while at old age.
According to him, parents who failed to train their children will never get the good reward from Allah, rather they will be cursed by their children.
“Children are the source of wealth and source of happiness to anybody in the world.
” Before any Muslims should marry, he or she must choose a good partner, if you want your children to to be successful in life.
“When you have a successful parents, people will definitely want to associate with you.
” When we are no more, it is these children that will contunue to seek forgiveness for us. But, if we failed to train them, how will they remember us after our demise”
The Cleric however advised Muslims to be a good role model to their children.
In the same vein, The Chief Imam, FUNAAB Central Mosque, Nepa Road, Dr. Sharafudeen Kareem called on Muslim youths to participate in politics.
Speaking on the topic “Securing the hard earn democracy”, the Cleric noted that, if Nigeria would progress there should be need for constructional review.
Dr Kareem also warned, that Democracy should be practice the way it was when the Nation fought for it.
He said ” We don’t need the National Assembly members and the Senators to develop our democracy, we can develop it ourselves.
“We don’t need those people collecting pension at the Senate.
“That is why we have people who after serving as Governor of a state will go back to the Senate to retire and collect our money.
” There is need for constructional review. If we want to sustain the democracy, the youths must participate in it” he said.
