The All Progressives Congress, APC, National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole has downplayed claims of violence during the just concluded governorship election in Bayelsa State.

Speaking with journalists after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja on Thursday, Oshiomhole stated that the election was “truly transparent and peaceful.”

According to Oshiomhole: “I believe since 1999, you as very seasoned journalists who have covered elections in Bayelsa in the past, you will agree that this is the only time we can say the election is truly transparent and peaceful.”

Oshiomhole stated that Buhari had insisted that the party play by the rules and ensure a transparent process despite its determination to win the election

“The president has always been concerned about peaceful election and we were proud to inform him that besides very isolated cases of ballot box snatching, the election in Bayelsa can be described as the most peaceful.”
