The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has revealed that over 50% of the petrol stations in the Nigeria/Niger border post were owned by foreigners.
He said the decision by the Federal Government to close the country’s land borders has yielded positive result for the country’s security.
The minister disclosed this on Monday while speaking at Nigeria/Niger border post, Magama -Jibia, Katsina State when the Federal Government High Power delegation visited the border post.
He explained that the country has recorded about 30 percent reduction in local consumption of petroleum products as result of banning supply to border areas.
The Minister added that the country has also experienced a drastic reduction in arm importation, cattle rustling and smuggling of petroleum products among others.
