The Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun has urged parents and guardians to pay the West African Examination Council (WAEC) fees for their children and wards so as to avoid being disqualified from writing the exam.
The governor through the Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MOES&T), Mrs. Abosede Ogunleye said the registration would close soon.
Ogunleye gave the charge while monitoring resumption in schools across the State for the Second Term 2019/2020 academic year.
She maintained that defaulting in payment by parents would prevent their children and wards from writing the examination.
She underscored the importance of WAEC, which according to her, was a key determinant of their wards’ future.
She noted that registration ought to have closed but for some documentation procedures of the candidates’ details by the Ministry, for onward transmission to the examination body.
The MOES&T’s helmsman expressed satisfaction in students’ attendance on the second day of resumption.
She added that academic work had commenced in earnest with the Welcome Back Tests and advised teachers and learners to justify government’s investment in education.
Schools visited included, Nawar-U-Deen Grammar School, Obantoko, Salawudeen Abiola Comprehensive High School, Osiele, Adeola Odutola College, Ijebu-Ode, Ijebu Muslim College, Our Lady of Apostles School, Ijebu-Ode, Anglican Girls Grammar School and Government Science Technical College, Ijebu-Ode.
