…as gov’t set to quash dismissal record

Olasunkanmi Akinlotan & Sodiq Ojuroungbe

There seems to be a palpable tension resulting into a complete silence in Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye over the appointment of a dismissed staff, Prof. Sidi Osho, as the new Commissioner designate of Education, Science and Technology by the state governor, Dapo Abiodun.

Expectedly, as a former staff of the university, encomiums and congratulatory messages was suppose to be showered on her but reverse was the case, instead she was not even present at the swearing – in ceremony.

PLATFORM TIMES observed that Osho who was dismissed by the University in 2016 for alleged gross misconduct, unethical conduct and abuse of processes was absent at the ceremony, no reason was given for her absence.

It was also observed that Mrs Osho did not include OOU as one of the institutions she ever worked with.

It was however gathered that the appointment caught the management of the institution unaware as principal officers are currently jittery that she might get back at them since OOU will now be one of the institutions she will oversee for about four years.

In a letter by the University obtained by PLATFORM TIMES, dated 11th April, 2016 read that the dismissal of Osho would took effect from March, 2016.

Osho, in the letter was accused and found guilty of gross misconduct and was dismissed accordingly.

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that Osho, was then at the College of Agriculture, OOU Ayetoro campus.

It was learnt that she was indicted of unethical and gross misconduct contrary to university’s rules and regulations.

Meanwhile, when our reporter contacted the Public Relations Officer of the University, Adeniyi Odunwole, he agreed that Osho was a staff of the institution but claimed not to know what led to her exit.

He also added that, he is not in position to confirm if Osho was sacked or not

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the government has been making efforts to quash her dismissal records from the university.

It was further gathered that the commissioner designate deliberately stayed away from the swearing – in ceremony in waiting for the government to clean up her alleged mess through the back door.

Efforts to get the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Kunle Somorin, to speak on the matter was proved abortive as he didn’t pick nor return calls put across to him by our reporter.

The CPS also refused to respond to message sent to his whatsapp.

  1. With the published CV, without the Olabisi Onabanjo University component, what is she looking for as a commissioner?. Its infradig!!!

  2. Definitely, she didn’t lobby for the appointment. The CV has spoken for itself, it is the State that needs her expertise. It is unfortunate that most often people like always get frustrated through unholy bureaucracy.
