KEBBI- No fewer than 153 people were reportedly killed by fire infernos that happened in different parts of Kebbi state in 2019.
In a 2019 review by the Department of Fire Service in Kebbi state disclosed that 483,276,626,0.7 worth of the properties were also lost to fire outbreaks across the state.
The Public Relations Officer of the Fire service, Basiru Bello explained that the number of lives lost were between January and December, 2019.
Bello added that the number reduce due to the prompt response of the fire officers when the need arises.
He stressed that the service has been able to save a lot of residents of the state with the little fire equipment it has.
He further revealed that properties worth N428,327,330.00 were saved by the fire department in 2019.
He however urged the state government to procure more fire fighting gadgets to assist the body in its operations in the state.
Bello also thanked people of the state particurlarly the victims for allowing the fire service personnel discharge their duties without hindrance.
He maintained that the fire fighting department remain unshaken as far as fire fighting is concerned in the state.
