A 32 year old resident of Oyo state, Nathaniel Oduyemi, has donated his last One thousand naira to the Lagos state government after being moved to tears by the tremendous efforts of the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in combating the pandemic Coronavirus.
The donor who also told the PLATFORMTIMES that he will forthwith donate 70 percent of the food stuff in his house to the vulnerable and less privileges.
His kind gesture however called the attention of many other young persons among which the President, Yoruba Youth Assembly, Com. Thomas Olarinde, National Public Relations Officer of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Com. Azeeze Adeyemi, Executive Director at Good Governance Initiative on Extractive Industries Development, Engr. Lukman Salaudeen, all applaud him, charging other youths in the country to emulate Oduyemi.
While Speaking with the PLATFORMTIMES in Ogun state, Oduyemi prayed for the Lagos state Governor adding that his children will reap the fruit of his tireless work in fighting the pandemic.
His words, ” How best can we encourage the Lagos state government other than to pray for him and support him with all that we have. I pray that may his children reap the fruit of the good works that he has done and that he will still do to fight this pandemic.
“The wonderful efforts of the Governor of Lagos state and his entire team moved me to tears yetsterday. The stress has been so much and it’s so obvious and that is why I donated the last money with me to the Government of Babajide Sanwo-Olu. It’s just my token to appreciate them and to let them know that we appreciate them.
“One day I will get to donate more to the nation and humanity like Dangote, Otedola, keshington, Alakija amongst others. so, I decided to start from now with whatsoever I am left with.
“If I have 100million sincerely I will donate 90million and be left with 10million at this critical point of need to the nation. I have also decided to share food in my coffers with the less privilege around me because We shouldn’t wait for government to do everything.
“And most importantly, we must appreciate the real and sincere efforts of Governor Sanwo-Olu in combating the menace of this virus. I pray that may the good lord reward him awesomely.”
Oduyemi however called on other Nigerian Youths to give their token even in this trying time of the country.
” I will also like to use this medium to call on all other rightly thinking Nigerian youths to support the government in the fight against Covid-19 and I pray that, may this pandemic never wipe us out of human race”.
