A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Abdulkabir Akinlade has urged Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun to concentrate on how to improve the welfare of health workers in the state rather than constructing roads.

Akinlade also called on the state Governor to ensure that proper measures are put in place to fight the spread of covid-19 in the state.

Akinlade stated this in a statement issued and made available to newsmen by his media aide, Alao Adelani on Saturday.

The APC Chieftain called on the state government to take up its responsibilities at the right time.

Akinlade called on Governor Abiodun to resolve the lingering strike action of the resident doctors at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu.

He advised the doctors to initiate a dialogue with state government in other to resolve their grievances.

Akinlade maintained that , embarking on strike action during this covid-19 period would not be friendly to the state.

The statement partly reads “there is time for everything, time to play the ostrich and time to take responsibility. This administration will not be defined by how many roads it constructed or schools and hospitals it renovated at this point in time but its handling of Covid-19.

“While commending the decision of the union to keep their staffs working at various isolation centres across the state during the strike, Akinlade called for dialogue and re-negotiation between the health workers and the Ogun State Government.

“Meanwhile, Akinlade appealed to the health workers in the state not to throw away the baby with the bath water, asking them to consider the innocent people of Ogun State who rely on their expertise, dedication, commitment and services on daily basis”.
