Ogun police parade notorious cultist, 30 other suspects

Men of the Ogun State Police command on Tuesday, paraded a notorious cultist, Adewale Adeoye and 30 others for crimes ranging from cultism, armed robbery, murder to illegal possession of fire arms.

While parading the suspects at the police headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, the Commissioner of police, Kenneth Ebrimson said the suspects were arrested within last month at different parts of the state.

Ebrimson, identified Adeoye a.k.a ’16’ as being on the police wanted list in connection with some cult -related killings in Ijebu-Ode and its environs.

He stated that, Adeoye who was an ex-convict and a member of Eiye Confraternity was arrested alongside five others at their hideouts in Ijebu-Ode on May .

Ebrimson explained that, two locally made single barrel pistols, one double barrel pistol, eleven live cartridges, assorted charms and Indian hemps were recovered from them.

Speaking with journalists, Adeoye who confessed to the crime, stated that he had killed three persons since he became a member of the confraternity.

He claimed that, two people out of those he killed were the killers of their leader in Ijebu-Ode .

Adeoye identified those he killed as , Vandan, Koledowo and Abas.

He said he had been arraigned twice for such a crime between 2012 and 2017.

He said, “I have been arraigned twice. I was arraigned in 2012 and regained my freedom in 2015 on the basis that, the complainant did not show up in court and they could not find anything discriminating with me.

“Few days after, the police came for my arrest again and kept me for another two years before i got my second freedom in 2017.”

He said he was the fourth in command in the confraternity in 2017 and later became second in command in 2018 .

When asked whether he had renounced his membership after his arrest , Adeoye said, “I have not renounced my membership . They didn’t give me the chance because they told me that they will kill me if I renounce my membership.”

Others paraded were three suspected armed robbers who were arrested at Agbabra after robbing some victims .

The Police Commissioner also paraded Central Bank cable thieves who were nabbed around the Bank premises in Abeokuta .

Others were four ritualists ; eight cultists and one suspected.murderer among others .
