NUJ dissolves excos, sets up caretaker committee to conduct fresh election for Federated Chapel in Ogun

The leadership of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Monday dissolved the executive of the Federated Chapel of the Ogun State Council and appointed a caretaker committee to oversee the affairs of the union until an election is conducted.

The decision to appoint a caretaker committee was contained in a resolution reached at the end of a special congress of the chapel held at Press Centre, Iwe-Iroyin, Abeokuta, supervised by the Vice President of the zone, Comrade Cosmas Oni, alongside the Zonal Secretary, Bamigbola Gbolagunte.

The communiqué issued by its drafting committee comprising Comrade Idris Oderinde (Chairman) and Comrade Omobolaji Adekunle (Secretary) announced explained tha the executive was dissolved after members of the Federated chapel present expressed dissatisfaction with the leadership of Comrade Niyi Adeloye.

PLATFORM TIMES reports that a three member caretaker committee was thereafter set up to conduct election and oversee the affairs of the chapel.

The caretaker Committee members are Messrs Dada Olaonipekun, Solomon Fagbohungbe, and Sodiq Ojuroungbe.

The house agreed that the caretaker committee should organize a free, fair and credible election within two weeks.

The house agreed that the existing list of the chapel should be used to conduct election as submitted at the last Ogun Council SEC meeting.

The meeting had in attendance the Vice President, Zone B, comrade Cosmas Oni and the zonal secretary, Bamigbola Gbolagunte who represented the national secretariat.

Also in attendance were the chairman, secretary and other members of the caretaker committee with 17 members of the Federated chapel.
