Fake lawyer arrested while appearing for clients in Ogun

A suspected fake lawyer identified as Adedeji Adelekan was on Wednessday arrested at Federal High Court, Abeokuta in Ogun state while appearing for clients.

PLATFORM TIMES learnt that the suspected fake lawyer was appearing for one Mr Omobolaji Muri Kuti and four others at Federal High Court located at Itori area of Abeokuta when his cover was blown.

It was gathered that the suspected fake lawyer had been representing clients both at Federal High Court, and the various magistrate courts in Ogun State.

A source told PLATFORM TIMES that Adelakan’s cover got blown when he was challenged in an open by a lawyer at the court which made the magistrate asked him about his qualification.

It was however learnt that Adelekan confessed not to have been called to the Nigerian bar, adding that he had failed to pass his final examination at the Nigerian Law School.

The Magistrate, Mr Kunle Somorin thereafter ordered his immediate arrest for prosecution and he was taken to Itori Division Police Headquarters for further questioning.

PLATFORM TIMES however learnt that the suspected fake lawyer will be arraigned on the 12th August, 2020 at Itori Magisterial District in Abeokuta.
