Hell went loose on Monday afternoon around Olowotedo opposite Deeper life on the Lagos -Ibadan expressway area of Ogun state after an okada rider was reportedly crushed to death by A Daf truck marked XA 539 BBJ.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that pandemonium broke out when the suspected hoodlums in Olowotedo discovered that the motorcyclist hit by the truck was a resident of the community.
It was learnt that the suspected hoodlums were beating and hitting everyone in sight to express their bitterness over the death of the deceased pillion rider.
PLATFORM TIMES learnt that it took the intervention of the security operatives before the area was calm.
While confirming the accident, the Spokesperson, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi said the accident occurred around 11am on Monday.
Akinbiyi explained that a hit and run car reportedly hit the motorcycle marked WDE 415 VD to the side of the moving truck which he claimed unknowingly crushed the rider to death.
Akinbiyi also confirmed that the incident led to pandemonium in the community.
He said, “According to an eye witness , a hit and run car from behind hit the motorcyclist into the front of a moving truck, which ran over him and he died immediately.
“The incident created a pandemonium for some minutes along the express road with area boys beating and hitting everyone in sight because the deceased pillion rider is a resident in the axis.”
The TRACE PRO however explained that the driver of the truck had been arrested by the police and taken to Mowe Divisional Police Command for interrogation.
He added that the body of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue of Idera Hospital, Sagamu.
He further commiserated with the family of the deceased and also advised motorcyclists to avoid plying the expressway because the risk involved.
