The Nigeria Union of Jounalists, Ogun state council, has announced the cancelation of the electoral process of the state correspondent chapel held on Wednesday.

The union also announced Rasaq Ayinla of Business Day newspaper as the newly elected chairman of the chapel.

In a statement by the Ogun NUJ leadership signed by the caretaker chairman, Omolola Adeyinka and the secretary, Wale Oluokun insisted that the electoral process disregarded the constitution of the NUJ by not allowing the state council to supervise the election.

The union added that the three candidates who included Rasaq Ayinla, Sulaiman Fasasi and Ernest Nwokolo have been cleared and returned unopposed.

The Ogun NUJ noted that the three candidates have been declared elected and should take over the affairs of the chapel immediately.

“The state council rise from a meeting in the incident resolved that the electoral process has been canceled

“Also the process fail to meet up with the checkoff dues remittance to the council.

“The three candidates cleared by the state council, Mr Rasak Ayinla (chairman), Mr. Sulaiman Fasasi (secretary), and Mr Ernest Nwokolo( treasurer) having be returned unopposed and returned elected should take over the affairs of the chapel with immediate effect.”
