Students task Politicians to embark on youth empowerment programmes

The National Congress of Nigerians Students, NACONS, has urged politicians to provide empowerment programme to Nigerian Youths so as to reduce the high rate of employment in the country.

The Southwest coordinator of NACONS, Comrade Abiodun Abdulaih said this while presenting an award of excellence to the founder of Igbalaye Ayodele Foundation.

Abdulaih who was a student from Federal University, Oye-Ekiti lamented that the high rate of unemployment in the country is becoming worrisome.

He maintained that there is a need for politicians to come to the aid of youths by assisting them with empowerment programmes.

The Southwest coordinator argued that empowering the youths will help in reducing the rate of unemployment in the country.

In his response, Igbalaye commended the Students’ body for finding him worthy for the award.

The philanthropist cum politician promised to embark on empowerment programmes that will help in reducing the unemployment in the country.

Igbalaye who contested for Ogun state House of Assembly under the platform of Labour Party explained that there are plans to train not less than 80 youths on barbing, catering and tailoring.

Igbalaye added that 10 beneficiaries will benefit from each of the eight wards in Abeokuta South.

The philanthropist also said he will be giving out 500 forms to people interested in schooling in Cotonou.

He noted that he will also pay half of the school fees for the interested candidates.

He added, “we are doing this to assist the members of our community sixne the government cannot do it alone.

“I imploy everyone that benefit from this empowerment to use the money judiciously.”

Igbalaye also said his foundation is targeting over 1,000 petty traders who will be given N5, 000 to boost their businesses.
