The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammed Buhari has appointed Dr. Afis Agboola as the new provost and medical Director of the Federal Neuropsychiatric hospital,Aro Abeokuta.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer, Joseph Ajibola.
Ajibola said Dr. Agboola has been appointed for a four-year-tenure which took effect from July 27th.
He said the appointment letter was conveyed through a letter with a reference number SMH 547/TI67 dated 11th August, 2020 issued by the Honourable Minister of State for Health, Dr (Senator) Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora.
According to the statement, ” Dr. Agboola had his undergraduate medical Education at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State from where he qualified as a Medical Doctor with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M. B, Ch. B.) in 1998.
“Upon graduation from Medical School, the new Provost had his Medical internship at General Hospital, Lagos in 1999 and proceeded immediately to serve his father’s land as a Medical Officer through National Youth Service Corps scheme at Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
“He was thereafter appointed as a Registrar in Postgraduate Medical Residency Training Programme in Psychiatry at Federal Psychiatric Hospital, Calabar, Cross River State in October, 2001.
“He was appointed as a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta on 1st of May, 2007. He is a fellow of the West African College of Physicians and also holds the Masters in Public Health (MPH) with Management Option at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State in 2016.
“Until his appointment as the substantive Provost and Medical Director of Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, Dr Agboola was a Consultant Special Grade I /Head of Servicom and Quality Improvement Services of the Hospital. The new Provost and Medical Director is married with children.”
