The Federal Government on Thursday says the prolong strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities is boosting the nationwide protests by ENDSARS agitators.

Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige made the allegations on Thursday, at a conciliatory meeting between ASUU’s Executive and the Ministry officials.

Ngige accused striking lecturers, under the auspices of Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU of being responsible for the ENDSARS Protest across the country.

According to the Minister, if students were to be in school, there would have been no room for them to be on the streets protesting.

Recall that ASUU had been on strike even during the lockdown occasioned by Covid-19 over disagreement on their wages.

While FG had insisted that ASUU members be enlisted in the Integrated Personnel Payroll and Information System IPPIS, the Union had objected to the policy, insisting that the statusquo remains or migrate to another payment platform designed by them.
