Ogun state Governor, Dapo Abiodun has congratulated the two time Finance Minister of Nigeria, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo – Iweala on her victory as the Director General, World Trade Organization (WTO).
Abiodun said Okonjo Iweala’s victory as the first African woman to win the global international organization position came as a result of her hard work, resilience and dedication to duty.
Abiodun charged her to see her emergence and success as not only personal or Nigerian’s but that of the African region as a whole while appreciating her for making the nation proud.
“We are very proud and confident that you will bring your wealth of experience and spheres of influence to bear towards repositioning the organization for greater results”, Abiodun reveals.
Describing the victory as a well deserved one, Governor Abiodun prayed for God’s wisdom for the newly elected Director General and wished her outstanding success in her new endeavors.
Gov Abiodun further lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for his deft diplomatic support that ensured the success of the Nigerian candidate.
“This is also a diplomatic leap-forward for Nigeria. It is victory for all of us and good news that we should build upon for our country’s image,” he said

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has congratulated Nigerians, particularly the Muslim faithful, on this year’s Eid-el Maolud commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Abiodun, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, urged all citizens to rededicate themselves to the teachings and exemplary life of the Holy Prophet.
He also urged Muslim faithful to continue to observe social distancing and other COVID-19 protocols, notwithstanding the flattening of the coronavirus curve in the State.
The governor reminded the public that the Holy Prophet stood for peace and unity during his lifetime, hence, he urged Nigerian youths to remain law-abiding and resist the temptation to be used as tools of wanton destruction.
While wishing Nigerians a happy celebration, Abiodun further appealed to all and sundry to use this special occasion to pray fervently for the peaceful co-existence, stability and security of the nation.
