The Speaker of the Ogun State house of Assembly, Rt. Hon Olakunle Oluomo has described as misinformation claims that the lawmakers have received constituency project allowance.
Speaking at a plenary of the Ogun State Assembly on Wednesday at the Assembly complex in Oke-Mosan, Oluomo said the lawmakers of the 9th Assembly are yet to receive constituency project allowance since inauguration.
He disclosed this while responding to the submission of Musefiu Lamidi (APM Ado-Odo-Ota 11).
Lamidi raised an accusation by his constituents that he collected constituency projects allowance from the government and refused to use accordingly.
Oluomo said that most projects embarked upon by the lawmakers in their various constituencies were being financed from their personal resources.
In his words, “We have spent one year and few months; no one has collected constituency project allowance because of the economic situation in the country; anything we do is from our sweat.
“The assembly will not hesitate to do the needful immediately we receive any money from the government.
“We will announce to the people immediately we receive money for constituency projects from the state government,” he said.
He however appealed to fellow lawmakers to be cautious in dealing with constituents as regards constituency projects.
