The recent online publication of a fresh attack on Governor Babagana Zulum by Boko Haram is false, the governor’s spokesman, Malam Isa Gusau, has said.
Gusau, in a statement on Sunday in Maiduguri, said there was no direct attack on the governor or his convoy.
The statement, however, admitted that the governor travelled to Baga on a helicopter and supervised food and other relief items for distribution to newly resettled people and returned safely to Maiduguri on the same chopper.
It was gathered that what was being reported as an attack on Governor Zulum was actually an ambush carried out by Boko Haram on some troops travelling to Baga.
The incident occurred at a village called Jaata between Gajiram and Mongonu town.
About seven soldiers and an unspecified number of civilians JTF were reported to have died in the ambush.
The military is yet to give details of the attack or confirm the incident.
