The death of a foremost cleric and jurist, Ahmed Lemu has exposed a wide gap that might not be filled by anyone in Nigeria and in the whole Muslim world.
This was said by the Chief Imam of University of Abuja, Prof. Taofiq AbdulAzeez in his message issued on Saturday .
Sheikh Lemu, a retired grand khadi,born on December 21, 1929 from Lemu, Niger State, he was 91.
In his message tittled “exit of Sheikh Llemu and the unfilable gap” described the late cleric as first in many righteous and rewarding deeds and an epitome of humility and piety.
The statement read “EXIT OF SHEIKH LEMU AND THE UNFILLABLE GAP
“ I write with a heavy heart to commiserate with the immediate family of our father, late Sheikh Lemu and the entire Nigerian muslim Community.
“ Words will not be enough to enumerate the various contributions of the late sage but suffice is to say that his death has exposed a wide GAP that is not fillable by anyone in Nigeria and indeed, the whole muslim world.
“He was first in many righteous and rewarding deeds and was an epitome of humility and piety.
“ I’m worried that the exit of icons like him may signal the beginning of the end of our era as Prophesied by Allaah’s messenger.
“ I ask Allah to give the immediate family and the entire muslim Community the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss and Grant our father the loftiest place in Al-Jannah”.
