The Baale of Adigbe, Osho Majiyagbe has assured landlords and tenants living in Adigbe area of Obafemi Owode Local government of Ogun state not to panic over a purported court judgment on ownership of not less than 400 houses in the community.
It would be recalled that anxiety gripped the residents of the community in the early hours of one Thursday about some months ago when the Apostle Adedeji family went into the community with mobile police, court bailiffs to lock some houses and also pasted notice of possession in some houses in the community.
The court had in a judgment delivered on 24th January, 2018 said that Apostle Oyedeji who was a defendant/counterclaimant in a suit presented before the Ogun state high court in 2009 is the rightful owner of the land.
The judgment which was delivered by Justice Abiodun Akinyemi stated that Apostle Oyedeji is the rightful owner of the land which meansured about 19.640 hectares bounded in the front by Bamitomo stream, at the right by Ajegunle street, at the left by Ogun river and at the back by Odemo Adigbe road.
The court granted the counterclaimant the right to take over the land especially those vacant and underdeveloped.
Reacting to the judgment, the traditional ruler assured that the houses which the court ordered to be sealed by the Apostle Oyedeji family will be reversed soon.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional ruler, the head of family, Alhaji Chief Mufutau Kehinde disclosed that an appeal has been instituted at the Court of Appeal in Ibadan.
Kehinde noted that the family will take all legitimate means in ensuring that the the judgment by the high Court is reverse.
He further said, “we will ensure we take over our land through all legitimate means.
“We want our people not to panic, we will do everything within our power to ensure we fight this injustice.
“Thank God, we can still go beyond the High Court, we are appealing the judgment and we will ensure that justice prevail.”
